In this role, you'll have the chance to interact with a diverse range of legal resources and play a key role in our mission to deliver outstanding information services to our community.

The role supports operations, collections, and user services in a specialised government law library serving legal and policy stakeholders. Working under the direction of the appointed Library Manager/Librarian, the LO upholds all policies related to library operations, collection development, and user services. The LO is also required to provide quality resources, and to promote the use of resources as well as the information literacy among users.

The job scope of a library officer includes the following:

  • Monitor reminders sent to patrons and recall overdue library resources from patrons.
  • Provide loan, advisory and information services to all of the Authority’s staff.
  • Monitor and provide reference and information service for walk-in users as well as queries made through telephone calls or emails.
  • Guide and conduct searches on print and non-print resources.
  • Curate reading lists for the Authority’s events and library patrons on request.
  • Engage Users to gather feedback on their interests and needs.
  • Assist in conducting library user workshops, activities and programmes.
  • Design and implement publicity to promote use of library resources.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly administrative reports on library usage, loan statistics, reference enquiries and library activities / programmes.
  • Managing E-resources.
  • Developing library collections and handling library resource acquisition

Due to the nature of the work in the legal library, library officers are required to work in the library during fixed office hours.

  • Capable of effectively assisting in the daily operations and services of the library.
  • Dedicated to delivering quality and attentive service to library patrons.
  • Familiarity with library procedures including cataloguing, circulation, and reference assistance.
  • Familiarity and expertise in utilizing the Library Automation System (LAS) along with various digital tools for managing library operations.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and precision in managing library materials, entering data, and maintaining records.
  • Open to learning and adjusting to new technologies, processes, and library initiatives.
  • A team player.

You can apply for this job if you have the passion to work in an academic library and possess at least a diploma preferably with relevant working experience in a similar role. Experience is preferred but not mandatory.
