Job Description

Fabletics is looking for an Engineering Manager to lead our Creative Systems team — the engineers behind how we produce, manage, and publish the creative that powers our brand across web, mobile app, retail, email, and paid media. The team owns three connected platform areas: our Digital Asset Management (DAM) and creative production tooling; our marketing and creative automation platforms (campaign setup, personalization, dynamic creative delivery); and our CMS / content platform. These systems sit at the intersection of Creative, Marketing, Merchandising, and Ecommerce, and they directly influence speed-to-market, content quality, and conversion.

How do you fit in?

This is first and foremost a people leadership role — career development, performance, and day-to-day support of your engineers and QA partners — combined with ownership of the squad’s delivery rhythm (standups, ceremonies, planning, stakeholder alignment, and on-time, high-quality delivery). You’re also a hands-on manager: management comes first, but you stay close to the work — code reviews, pairing on tough problems, prototyping integrations, and stepping in when a flaky pipeline, tricky content modeling decision, or launch-day fire shows up.

Your first six months focus on relationships, learning the systems landscape, and owning delivery on the in-flight roadmap. From there, you’ll partner with Product and Creative leadership on the multi-year platform direction — unifying creative and commerce systems and embedding AI into how content is produced, managed, and personalized across DAM, CMS, and creative automation. Reporting to the VP of Engineering, you’ll sit on the Fabletics Technology leadership team.

Creative Systems supports time-sensitive launches, so this role requires a manager who’s accessible for the occasional launch-window escalation outside standard business hours — not nightly, but real. We take AI seriously, and this role is a big part of why: if you’re excited about how AI is reshaping creative production and the engineering behind it, this is the role for you.

What you will do:

People Leadership & Development

Own growth, performance, hiring, and engagement for the squad. Run 1:1s, coach, navigate performance conversations directly and early, and create stretch opportunities that develop engineers. This is where you’ll have the most impact.

Squad Delivery & Operating Rhythm

Own delivery, sprint health, technical direction, and the operating cadence (standups, planning, retros, roadmap reviews). Keep the squad focused and unblocked.

Partner with Product, Creative, Brand, and Marketing leadership to maintain a roadmap that balances new capability delivery (creative and production workflows, DAM, creative automation and distribution) with platform health and integration investment.

Own release management and change communication across systems with many upstream and downstream dependencies (creative tools, marketing platforms, ecommerce, retail, data).

Hands-On Technical Contribution

Stay close to the code: participate in design discussions, PR reviews, and debugging on the team’s most complex or highest-risk work — and pick up tickets yourself when that’s what the team needs.

Be the unblocker when integrations break, builds fail, or a launch is in jeopardy. Set the technical bar by example.

Partner with DevOps and QA Automation on CI/CD, test coverage, and observability so what the team ships is reliable and built to last — especially during high-volume creative moments and campaign launches.

AI-Driven Team Enablement

Set the standard for what AI-forward engineering looks like on this team. Drive adoption of AI tools across planning, code review, testing, and documentation, and through automation of creative workflows (AI-assisted asset tagging, content generation, integration testing).

Platform & Integrations

Hold the team accountable for clean, well-documented integrations between our creative and production workflows, DAM, creative automation tools, and the surfaces that consume them (web, app, retail, email, paid, B2B partners) — including the Product master-data connections that put style and season metadata cleanly into the DAM.

Guide architectural decisions across a stack that includes Java-based content and media platforms (DAM, video MAM), C#/.NET, Node.js, Python for AI/ML and automation, and React. Expect heavy emphasis on third-party integrations, event-driven webhook orchestration, file-based pipelines (SFTP and high-speed transfer), REST APIs, and AWS.

What you can bring:

3–7 years of software engineering experience and 3+ years as an EM or team lead; Bachelor’s in CS, Engineering, or equivalent.

Proven people developer who has grown engineers, navigated performance conversations, and built strong team cultures. Management is the primary lens through which you evaluate success.

Experience leading platform, integration, or content/CMS teams; integration experience with DAM, CMS, marketing automation, or creative production tools (Adobe, Figma, Contentful/Contentstack, Bynder, Cloudinary, SFMC, Braze) is a plus.

Strong technical foundation across C#/.NET, Node.js, and Python back-end services, React, and REST API design — and comfortable staying hands-on alongside management work (code review, design, debugging, picking up tickets when needed).

AI-forward mindset — daily user of AI-assisted development tools and hands-on with generative AI, with concrete views on how AI reshapes how teams plan, build, test, and ship — and how it’s reshaping creative production itself.

Excellent communicator, clear under pressure and credible with senior creative, marketing, and technology stakeholders. Comfortable with occasional off-hours availability for launch windows and time-sensitive escalations.

Familiarity with video processing pipelines (transcoding, codecs, MAM workflows) or Java-based content platforms (AEM, MAM) is a plus.

Where We Are:

This role is remote-friendly, with headquarters based in El Segundo, CA

Compensation & Total Rewards:

At Fabletics we believe work and life should fit together! We continue to build a culture of flexibility, to empower you to do your best and put yourself first. Our Total Rewards program rewards employees for their hard work, supporting their health, well-being, families, and ultimately their life journey.
