The Team is responsible for the design, development and continuous enhancement of the organisation's middleware solutions and integration services.</p><p>The wider IT team is made up of around 60 employees with a vast range of skills from Software Development to IT Operations and IT Security. Our IT Department values employee development and we have lots of great examples of employee progression and promotions within the team.</p><hr><p><strong>About the Opportunity:</strong></p><p>The role plays a critical part in enabling reliable message delivery, translation and validation between core business platforms through the ownership of a robust, scalable and future proof middleware products.</p><p>By embedding complex and non-standard requirements within a flexible middleware framework, the role empowers the business to unlock advanced capabilities and realise process improvements that would otherwise be difficult to achieve. Their work drives the organisation’s evolution toward a well-architected, seamlessly integrated ecosystem of products and services.</p><p>The role also carries operational responsibility for the performance and reliability of the middleware platform in production, including the delivery of secure and compliant integrations that meet internal standards and industry best practices. Working closely with development teams, product managers, and other stakeholders, the Software Engineer (Cloud & Integration) ensures that integration solutions are aligned with both technical objectives and evolving business needs.</p><hr><p><strong>About You:</strong></p><p><strong><em>Essential requirements:</em></strong></p><ul><li><p>Deep working knowledge of relevant AWS services; primarily Lambda, API Gateway, SNS/SQS, S3, DynamoDB, IAM and CloudWatch.</p></li><li><p>Solid understanding of software development principles, including design patterns, architecture, and methodologies - particularly in middleware and service integration.</p></li><li><p>Practical knowledge of event-driven architectures, leveraging services such as SNS, SQS, and Lambda triggers</p></li><li><p>Hands-on experience working in a DevOps environment, utilizing infrastructure as code (IaC), automation, and CI/CD pipelines.</p></li><li><p class="MsoNormal">Proficiency in writing and debugging code using TypeScript (Node.js) and Python.</p></li><li><p class="MsoNormal">Experience with monitoring, logging, and observability tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, and AWS CloudWatch.</p></li><li><p class="MsoNormal">Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools, particularly AWS CDK and Terraform.</p></li><li><p class="MsoNormal">Exposure to unit testing, integration testing, and automated test frameworks.</p></li><li><p class="MsoNormal">Practical experience with Git-based workflows and operational methodologies such as GitOps.</p></li><li><p class="MsoNormal">Proven experience designing and developing robust, scalable serverless applications in the cloud.</p></li><li><p class="MsoNormal">Experience integrating with managed databases such as DynamoDB, Amazon RDS (MySQL/PostgreSQL), or similar.</p><p class="MsoNormal"></p></li></ul><p><strong><em>Desirable requirements:</em></strong></p><ul><li><p class="MsoNormal">Experience working within a security framework such as PCI DSS, Cyber Essentials, and ISO 27001, ensuring compliance and security best practices are met.</p></li><li><p class="MsoNormal">Experience working with agile methodologies, collaborating in sprints, managing releases, and delivering incremental, high-quality software.</p></li><li><p class="MsoNormal">Hands-on experience with Azure services, including Resource Groups, Service Bus, Azure Logic Apps, Function Apps, API Management.</p></li></ul><hr><p><strong>Why Arden:</strong></p><p>At Arden, you will become a part of a passionate and dedicated team who are committed to removing unnecessary barriers to learning and making education more accessible.
